Lost and Found Pet Network

HOW TO HELP THE NETWORK - HOW TO VOLUNTEER OR TO BE A PET DETECTIVE

The purpose of the present site is only to be one more tool in the search of lost pets. So, the volunteering will take an all new dimension. No physical contact with the animals like in a no kill shelter; the only satisfaction you will know will be that the small effort you put in will help a helpless pet go securely back home.

Ways to intervene

1- First and foremost, we will need real people on the terrain. Register your e-mail address (it will not be used for marketing) and location if you think you are a dependable person the animals can count on to search the streets in your city for a stray or make phone calls to help a senior locate his/her lost pet. If you can put in a little time, once in a while, the lost animal needs you.

2- Being in a cyberworld, we need people like you at the other end. You have to be knowledgeable of all the tips we gave on this site and make a list of useful phone numbers and a map of your area : pounds, shelters, vet clinics, etc. We may never call on you because there is no lost pet in your area, but if we do, our commitment to animals asks us to know that we can count on you.

3- You can e-mail us any tips that worked for you and that you think a lost pet could benefit from.

4- If you have a very smart and active dog, you might want to train it to be a "tracking" dog or pet detective. Tracking is very useful in a forest or countryside.

5- The main reason why lost pets get euthanized is, they are not kept long enough in the shelter or pound so their guardians have a chance to come in for them. So, if you are good at it, you can lobby your city officials to extend the number of days they keep the retrieved pet to give you the chance to find its guardians.

6- If you are short on time, you can still help lost pets by being a sustaining member and of course, by donating.
